Vnknown-7drl
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Heavily inspired by Cogmind, Brogue, and Infra Arcana. My favorite roguelike's with systems i adore and wanted to create versions of myself. This was my attempt to distill the parts I love most from each into something cohesive. Mechanically i got a lot of it set up, but ultimately fell short and when it came time for real gameplay on day 4, i just had to cut almost half of what i had planned.
The lantern fuel system, sanity spiral, and darkness-as-resource worked but were rushed and ultimately as time went on i felt like i was pulling more from IA than i intended to. and the brogue systems that i wanted weren't able to be implemented. One main gameplay feature that i entirely had to cut is the one i wanted to play around with the most, but that will have to wait until the real game gets further along.
The ranged whip costing 20TU more per tile e.g. 160TU at 3 tiles (4 if you get the passive later) actually worked out quite well even tho i wasn't able to get timing systems for all entities quite how i wanted them. I also just doubled potion spawns at the very end as the clock was beating me and i wanted the game to at least be beatable. its technically complete i just marked it incomplete since its not where i wanted it

Packaged are pre-compiled binaries, no need to build from scratch, but if you want the source code is up at https://github.com/Naughtyusername/7drl-2026 works on windows and linux for me. latest release of odin (post os2 changes so at least the march release, (feb or before wont compile) i cant test mac, so i hope it works if someone wants it there. if not it shouldnt be hard to get it working if you have odin set up, raylib is pretty good about the PAL.
